All right, a languid offseason was interrupted slightly with the news that LeBron James

has signed a one plus one extension for the max with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He could have been a free agent next summer.

That is now no longer the case.

He's now lined up in 2024 with his son potentially being in the draft.

So what we're going to do, we'll talk about that a little bit.

And then we've got a chance to get into, I think we're actually even going to do two weeks in a row,

or two shows in a row, I should say, of mailbag questions because we've got so many amazing ones here on Twitter.

john and talk about your thoughts on lebron extending with the lakers i thought you made a very

interesting point on twitter yesterday when you said that this extension was timed so that he cannot be traded this year.

If he had signed earlier, then he would have been trade eligible just before the trade deadline.

But because it's six months after he signs it, now it pushes just past the trade deadline,

which will be Feb 9 this year.

And so LeBron James can't be traded this entire season.

I think that is actually somewhat interesting because the situation that the Lakers are in now,

look, he has an out in 2024.

He's probably going to try to sign with whatever team drafts his son.

That team will probably not be the Lakers, given that they owe their first round pick to New Orleans that year, even if it ends up being a high pick.

Do the Lakers end up in a position where if they're bad this year, they basically have to trade LeBron James?

Yeah, he does have a 15% trade bonus.

Which will be irrelevant because he's over the max.
