Hey, this is Daryl with some breaking news for you.

0:07.0

We all know the best time for US soccer to break news is just after Taylor and I have recorded,

0:12.7

and they are continuing that fine tradition.

0:15.1

Here's the news.

0:16.1

Jay Bear Halter is officially out of the running to be the next CEO of US soccer. And Jay Beahelter is also

0:23.7

stepping down from his current position of Chief Operating Officer. He'll step down at the end of the

0:28.7

month. We will, of course, discuss this on the Total Soccer Show in a future episode because it

0:33.5

really is a big deal. But here's my quick take. This is good news for those who wanted

0:38.4

to see change at US Soccer House, especially a change in workplace culture. At one point,

0:44.6

it looked like Jay Behalter was the favourite to replace Dan Flynn as US Soccer CEO, which you

0:49.4

could argue was basically a continuation of the same regime. But then some very unhappy employees left those

0:55.7

infamous glass door reviews calling attention to, let's say, a not good work culture within the

1:01.6

Federation. That seemed to make Carlos Cordero and US Soccer pause and then reopen the search

1:07.4

for CEO candidates. Now we have confirmation that the new CEO definitely won't

1:12.7

be Jay Behrelter and if he's not going to be the new CEO and after thinking maybe he would be,

1:17.3

it makes sense for Beirhalter and US soccer to part ways. I think this is a win for the way

1:23.8

we talk about US soccer as well. Jay Beahelter not being the CEO and not being

1:28.2

involved at all from the end of the month. It should put an end to anyone feeling or suggesting or

1:33.5

thinking that Greg Beerhelter is men's national team coach because of any sort of nepotism,

1:38.8

as opposed to being head coach because, you know, he's a smart and talented coach who has a

1:43.2

strong idea about the way

1:44.5

US national teams should play. So now that Jay Behrelter is not the next CEO of US soccer,
