| 0:00.0 | Hello, and welcome back to practicing human, the podcast where every day we're getting a little better at life. |
| 0:07.0 | I'm your host, Cory Muscarra, and in today's episode we're going to talk about why wherever you go, there you are. |
| 0:15.0 | More to come on that in a moment. First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. |
| 0:30.0 | So, the title and theme of today's episode comes from John Kabat's ins book, wherever you go, there you are. |
| 0:50.0 | And I love that as a title for a book, especially a mindfulness book, because there are so many lessons, truths, and teachings just imbued in that title itself. |
| 1:04.0 | You know, in one sense, this is a simple reminder, especially if you've been listening to this podcast for some time, this is really talking about presence and being where you are fully. |
| 1:17.0 | On another level, this is our ongoing practice and the depth of our practice moment after moment after moment for our lifetime to actually be in our lives as they're happening, which you can even check in with right now. |
| 1:38.0 | As you're listening to this, notice where you are. How does your body feel? What is your experience and felt sense of being you right now? |
| 1:58.0 | And can you sense that you are here, wherever you're going today, or wherever you were in the last 24 hours in this moment, you are here, and can you let yourself fully be here, even if the energetic momentum of your life might be pushing you into the next moment, |
| 2:22.0 | or there might be excitement about getting some place else, or still stuck in a previous moment, for just a second, see if you can connect to being here more and more fully. |
| 2:42.0 | There was a teacher named Minindraji who used to say to his students, just sit and know that you're sitting and the whole of the Dharma will be revealed. |
| 2:57.0 | Just sit and know that you're sitting and the whole of the Dharma will be revealed. |
| 3:03.0 | Now, the word Dharma loosely translates into truth, the way things are. |
| 3:11.0 | And I think often when we're looking for insights and wisdom, we tend to just overcomplicate it, we're looking for the fireworks. |
| 3:22.0 | It can't possibly be as simple as just sitting and knowing that you're sitting, but it is because it's not about the sitting itself, but to sit and truly know that you're just sitting also requires letting go of all of the other ideas about who you are, where you should be, how much more magnificent the moment should be or could be. |
| 3:51.0 | And it's all of these thoughts and ideas and judgments that when we're caught in them to distract us and separate us from the wholeness and the perfection of our life. |
| 4:07.0 | And so another way to say to sit and know that you're sitting is to say wherever you go, there you are. |
| 4:17.0 | And that's my invitation to you today, wherever you go, try to be there. |
| 4:26.0 | You don't need to make it any more complicated, any more magnificent. |
| 4:32.0 | But if you do that for more and more moments, things will start to shift and you may start to see and experience your life in a very new way. |
| 4:43.0 | So as always, thank you for your practice. It was a pleasure to be with you today and I'll talk to you soon. Until next time, take care. |
| 5:02.0 | Hey, a couple announcements before you go. First, we still have about 15 spots left in the online retreat June 5th through 7th, 2020. |
