emcee the National Memorial Day Parade and afterwards we all got together for lunch and

people were saying well you know people don't really understand classical music like

they used to and my son said well sure they do he said if you're when he was a little boy, he said, let me see if you know this.

And I used to encourage my kids to listen to those great watchless cartoons

because they played classical music.

Well, maybe we're not protecting and preserving our great art and culture as we should,

but to talk about it on the program today,

we're going to be joined by Dr. Mark Evans, composer,

conductor, pianist, organist, multi-faceted guys written a book and has a program,

a television program called Mark My Words.

We all laughed when we started singing some of the famous songs that we knew that they didn't realize were classical pieces.

Well, first of all, Blanquita, it's wonderful to join you again. I had a great pleasure of being on your program before. It's nice to be back. And yes, indeed. I grew up in the music

department at a large Hollywood movie studio and had an opportunity to get to know many of

my childhood heroes who were some of the great film composers. And you're absolutely right.

There were several generations who actually learned about all kinds of music,

especially classical music, through watching cartoons. And it's very interesting how on occasion

those cartoons were produced using some wonderful music. Bugugs Bunny taught a lot of children about marvelous concert works.
