Summary

On today’s show, Dane is joined by Jace Frederick of The St. Paul Pioneer Press to discuss which Timberwolves players found their way onto CBS Sports and ESPN’s top 100 lists. Dane and Jace go position-by-position to discuss where Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell rank amongst their positional peers. And discuss whether or not Jaden McDaniels has a case to be one of the top 22 small forwards in the league this season. — Questions comparing Gobert to Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo — Is it ridiculous that Zion Williamson ranks above KAT at power forward? — Is KAT at 20 on CBS Sports’s overall list too low? Is KAT 13th on ESPN’s overall list too high? — How does Ant compare to Donovan Mitchell, Zach LaVine and Bradley Beal (all of whom rank above him)? How does Ant compare to Jordan Poole and Tyler Herro (who rank below him) — D’Angelo Russell not making CBS Sports’s top 100 list or their top 22 point guard list. What is the case to have DLo be in those ranking above players like De’Aaron Fox, Jalen Brunson and Tyrese Haliburton? 0:20.5

And it is Wednesday, So I'm joined by

0:22.9

Chase Frederick of the Pioneer Press. You're joining me every Wednesday this season. And on

0:27.8

today's show, we're going to talk about the top 100 lists that started to kind of float around

0:32.7

the internet this week. CBS sports released their full top 100 list on Tuesday. So we'll kind of use

0:39.8

that as a guideline. ESPN, we're recording this Wednesday morning ESPN's list isn't all the way

0:44.5

out. It's kind of, I guess, trickling out over the course of days. We'll dig into both of those,

0:48.6

again, using CBS sports, uh, their list as our main thing. But Jason Frederick, how are you doing?

0:54.3

Are you and are you a list guy?

0:57.3

No, the list bother me because like there are so many different caveats in basketball,

1:03.1

like what matters most, what makes somebody more valuable than another player objectively,

1:06.8

like what somebody has to do within their team.

1:08.9

Like that player does this role for a much better team.

1:12.0

Are they a better player than somebody else who just scores, you know,

1:14.5

20 points or whatever for this terrible team?

1:16.4

So I don't love it because it's, it is so subjective in the way that like,

1:21.9

if you think about basketball in different ways,

1:23.7

it's so easy to move guy up or down 20 spots.

1:26.7

I do think we're safe in that ESPN

1:28.4

is done with their wolves. They're done to their top 10 players. So unless they think really highly

1:33.1

of Jordan McLaughlin. Yeah, Jordan McLaughlin, whatever. Like, stunningly highly. I think we're

1:39.4

pretty good on both of those. But it's even interesting like CBS and the ESPN, like they have the
