Hi, I'm Dave. I've been walking for fitness since 2013, averaging about 21,000 steps a day.

Yep, I am at the beach. This is the Atlantic Ocean you hear. I live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Our house is about two miles as the crow flies from the ocean. But sadly, I have not yet learned that little trick, flying like a crow.

So I have to either get in my car walk or take my

bike which is what I did today and that's about a 20-minute bike ride and I've got a basket on the

back of my bike and this fun little beach chair that folds up and fits in that basket, a little beach bag, throw some snacks in there, a towel, sun tan lotion, and pop my butt down on the beach.

And before I really get settled in, I'm going to take a walk. This is my favorite place to walk. And I've mentioned that before. What I haven't said,

at least I don't think I mentioned this when I walked on the beach last time,

what I haven't said is why this is my favorite place to walk.

When I'm at the beach, when I'm walking along the ocean, I am more able to dream, to daydream. I guess Charles Dickens would

call this the object-less walk, a walk that doesn't have a point to it, a walk that, as he said, was loitering, you know, slower pace,

maybe even stopping from time to time, and a walk that is vagabond, really no set destination.

You're just kind of going where your heart leads you. Now, obviously, here

along the beach, I don't really have a whole lot of options. I can walk straight, I can turn around, in which case I'm walking into the wind,

and then become aware of, well, that's a little obnoxious for the listener, so my vagabond

then has me turn the other way, so the wind is at my back.

But the thing that I love doing more than anything else when I'm walking along the beach is dreaming, daydreaming. When I was a teenager, we vacationed in Cape May, New Jersey,
