of of conversations and yeah I'm really appreciative so at the end this is kind of a bumper last episode there's five guests I'm ending on my dad I started episode one on my mom ending episode six on my dad but I'll also give a kind of

pips final thoughts type affair at the end it won't be too deep and meaningful yeah well let's kick things off I'm going to start with Dr Susie gauge who is a doctor has got an amazing book called

the Wider Drugs which I did the forward for which comes out on paperback I think next week the start of June anyway and she hosts a podcast called say Wider Drugs of which I'm sometimes the cohost so but that's not the only reason I wanted

to are on obviously the fact that she's a doctor gives her an interesting insight to the madness that's been going on but there's been a few other big

things going on in her life so yeah we talk about that so let's jump into the first guest on episode 388 where's your head at part five no sorry part six this is Dr Susie gauge

right I'm here today with Dr Susie gauge how are you Susie I am very good thank you you're not alone either this is going to come into our conversation but obviously

people can't see on zone but you've got someone with you I have I've got Elliott who is six months old sitting on my knee so if there's any strange noises it's not me it's him yeah

it's a good excuse um the point of these conversations just is to spend 10 15 minutes kind of talking about how your mental health has been during the pandemic and how you feel as we start to come out the other side

you your view for two reasons your doctor and and and a research and not and a front line doctor but you you know you're you're in that

world so you will have probably been infuriated regularly on social media and you as you said Elliott is six months old so you had a child during a pandemic so these

unique views to be shared so yeah I guess how's it all been yeah my my lockdowns really been split firmly in two of sort of being pregnant

until November and then having a newborn from November so yeah we found out we were pregnant about a week before we went into lockdown

that was very very strange time and the first sort of 12 weeks of the pregnancy were always going to be tough anyway because I had a miscarriage last year or year before so it's sort of waiting waiting for that 12

weeks scan where the risk then becomes much lower and it was at the scan last time that we found out and then this this time because of lockdown restrictions my partner wasn't able to come with me to the scan

so I had to go by myself and I mean luckily it was it was fantastic news but it was really tough for him because the only like the only scan he ever went to was the

miscarriage scan yeah so he didn't get to see this amazing like you wouldn't believe how much a 12 week old fetus can move around so much like it was it was a

stounding it was magical and I had to experience that I mean and I'm lucky that I experienced that by myself but it was good news I know people who went to that 12 weeks scan by themselves and had the worst news so
