In 2010, I found myself back on my mother sofa with a college degree

and not much more than the bragging rights I thought I'd earned from it.

I'd done all the things right.

Finished up school, landed the big girl job, but with an economic crisis flooding the nation,

it still wasn't enough to set a defined pathway into adulthood.

All the normal milestones like buying a house, getting married, having kids,

were still out of reach.

Even just deciding where to live, in which city would be most optimal to my success,

felt like a burden, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, where could I find success and build a life as well?

And now maybe this seems a little trivial, or just another self-obsessed millennial pity party,

but as today's talk demonstrates, it's actually about nothing more or less than the future of our planet.
