Summary

We ditched the usual Monday Madness so Doug, Nathan and Stephen could delve into what went wrong in The Game. This podcast covers the defensive side of the ball. Were things as bad on rewatch as they seemed in real time, or did we come away with a new perspective? Also, what did a closer examination of the loss tell us about possible staff changes ahead and what this team will look like on the field in 2022? Welcome back to Buck I Talk. I'm Nathan Barrett from Cleveland.com, along with Doug Lamerese and Steven Means joining us on a Monday, a little bit out of the ordinary, but obviously an out of the ordinary Monday.

It's usually where we do Monday madness today. It's more like Monday sadness and we're going to get into why we broke down what happened defensively for Ohio State in that 4227 loss to Michigan for Tuesday's pod.

1:53.0

We're going to get into what happened to Ohio State offensively in that loss that obviously alters the season, Rex the season, however you want to say it.

2:02.0

That's going to be the bulk of this podcast, but up front we wanted to talk a little bit about the news that happened around the program and in college football for the last 24 hours.

2:12.0

On my way back from Ann Arbor yesterday, Jack Miller announced that he is leaving the program. He will transfer elsewhere.

2:22.0

What's, you know, made, made the usual sort of gracious statements, but also said it's time for me to play and I don't think anybody was surprised by this development.

2:32.0

We knew that there was going to be a trition in this room and we knew that it would probably start pretty much immediately. So this didn't come into surprise. Obviously, Doug, I thought the important thing is in this whole situation as far as Ohio State goes is some of the unknown things.

2:50.0

You know, how, how is the, we talked about this before I thought on the pod deal. How does the, how does Jack Miller feel like he was treated during this process.

3:00.0

You got a fair shake to be the starting quarterback and is he moving on prepared to have a good career. And I think he the way he is talked publicly believes that that's true.

3:10.0

Yeah, I don't know. He plays you to go somewhere else. He probably should have decommitted once he day strained committed over top of him in his own class. I mean, he just never, he was always last and however many guys were here.

3:21.0

And so that's a tough place to be for a guy who was a really high recruit in high school before he got hurt.

3:27.0

And, but yes, from Ohio, so good luck to him, but from an Ohio State perspective, completely expected, but now you're just on, not kind of a court watch, but you're curious if it could be to this off season. And if that's the case, then not that you're in trouble or short necessarily, but I do think if that would happen, then you're in a position of like, are you sure this is the right thing to be doing to bring it all these guys and nobody like is happy being a back.

3:56.0

Or whatever. So this was the first domino good luck to Jack Miller. And if this is it, then this is the off season that everybody expected, and if it's not it, then we have a larger conversation.

4:07.0

Yeah, as inevitable as a departure was, I think you make a good point, Doug, in that during this whole process, even if you thought that Jack Miller was not going to ever start for Ohio State, I think everyone also thought that's actually a pretty good number three quarterback to have, right?
