Well, the conversations that matter podcast. I'm your host John Harris to talk about the new president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

That's right, it's another episode for you, Southern Baptists. I've had a number of those over the last week because the convention was last week for

the country's largest Protestant denomination and it's important who runs that denomination.

They get to a point the committee heads and trustee board

members and they have a lot of influence and so it's important to know who that

person is is and some I probably are wondering why I haven't done more on Bart Barber.

I mentioned him a few times and there's a few reasons.

I think one is that I never took him seriously and I didn't think most people did.

He's kind of goofy.

some of those because I have an idea for an episode on just some of the

silliness that is coming out of otherwise people you'd expect to be

more mature in the halls of institutional power and leadership in the Protestant, the largest Protestant

denomination you just would think there would be a lot more maturity but there doesn't seem to be and

Barb Barbara was just at the center of that in my mind and back on my days when I was on Twitter

It just I just didn't think that I would ever

see him in a position of leadership of course when he decided to run after Willie

Rice resigned and I did do some work on really Willie Rice he he was a lot more

straightforward of a candidate. I thought that Barb Barbara was

going to be the next president. I didn't really want to say that publicly, just I

didn't want to discourage Southern Baptist, but I knew he was probably going to be the next president,
