Being a member of a local church is more significant than you might have realized.

From the very beginning, God has been calling out a people for Himself.

But for what purpose?

We study the Bible, it is a serious and wonderful business.

None of us is interested in just hearing the rumination of a man's mind.

We do want to learn the Bible.

We want to be students of the book.

We want to be better informed as a result of our studies.

But we don't simply want information.

We want an encounter with you, the living God.

We want to be different because we've studied.

So we pray that you will fulfill the purposes that you have as we turn to the Scriptures

now in Jesus' name.

It is if you're like a community of people who owe their existence and their solidarity

and their distinctiveness from all other communities to one thing only and that is to the call

of God.
