I'm Katie Rich, the deputy editor of vanityfair.com and I'm here with

vanity fair's film critic Richard Lawson. Hello. This week we've once again lost Mike but

gained another special guest in Franklin Leonard, who is the founder and CEO of the

blacklist which is a source for screenplays within Hollywood and more generally

the perennial answer to that question where are all the good original movies in Hollywood?

We'll talk to Franklin about his work in uncovering great

unproduced screenplays through the blacklist

in working with up-and-coming screenwriters

through the blacklist website

and then how those films that get made

inevitably lead to the Oscars sometimes. From there Richard and I will look at the

next award show on the awards calendar, the MTV Movie Awards. It's what we've all been

looking forward to for years now. We'll take a look at who's going to take

home the golden popcorn and whether any of this actually matters except for Best Kiss

which I think we can both agree is the most important award of the

entire year. I think history can both agree is the most important award of the entire year.

I think history bears that out, yes.

But first we're going to look at the Week in Oscar News which is pretty quiet.

We're still waiting for Cannes to announce its official lineup and the Tribeca Film Festival

here in New York hasn't gotten
