so I want to share a poem, so I want to share a poem called Lost by David Wagner, which he based on the teachings

that the Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest gave their children if they were to ever be lost in the thick redwoods.

The poem goes like this. He says,

Stand still, the trees ahead and bushes beside you are not lost.

Wherever you are, is called here, and you must treat it as a powerful stranger, must ask permission to know it and be known.

The forest breeds.

Listen. It answers. Boris breeds, listen.
