Do you ever think, oof, but I don't know what I want?

This comes up a lot if you're in self-coaching society,

you'll know that we speak about this often.

I don't know what I want, I don't know what I want.

Often when we say this, it's not

though we don't know what we want, although that can feel truthful. What we're really saying, the subtext of that statement is, I'm scared to want what I want. I don't know if it's possible for me. I don't know if I can have it, I'm scared to even announce it,

declare it even to myself because then there's going to be work to do, then I'm going to be

uncomfortable, then I'm going to have to take some risks. I want to tell you something my friend this may be an

unpopular opinion. I don't believe people who say they don't know what they want.

I don't and I never have. I'm not saying you need perfect clarity down to the absolute most granular detail, right? I don't know those things. But I generally have a pretty great idea all the time of what it is that I want.

Now, what have we just started knowing?

Sometimes you'll hear me say that.

You know, I don't know what I want.

I'll go, go yeah start knowing.

It can seem really unhelpful right?

But I love to ask people this.

So for example, I work a lot of people to help them start their side hustle, right, or start their very first business.

And they'll go, oh, but I don't know what it is that I want.

And what they're really saying is, I'm scared to do this.

I'm scared to try something new. I'm scared to put myself on'm scared to try something new I'm scared to put myself
