Hey, I'm Buzz Needlesworth, tattoo artist to the stars.

I love being a tattoo artist. My clients come to me with a vision of something beautiful and

meaningful that they want to keep with them forever, and I turn that vision into a reality. I've been lucky enough to ink my

art onto some amazing celebrities. I mean, did you know that Kermit the Frog has a tattoo of a banjo

on his left arm? That was me. I also did a tattoo on Tony the Tiger's back that says

great in a really nice, like, frosted font, classic, elegant.

Anyway, tattooing is an art form that has been around for a long time.

I don't know how long, though.

My friend Zariah was wondering, when were tattoos first invented?

I'm Zariah, and I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana, but currently I'm living in Botswana.

And my question is, when were tattoos invented?

It's not that much different than what we do now with the exception of machines.

The process still involves some implement to push pigment into the skin and then the skin heals.
