0:08.9	In the time it takes to get to work. I'm Patrick Miller. At some point in your life, you'll hit a moment where you realize that there's nothing you can do. The circumstances vary. Maybe it's a diagnosis that you can't overcome.
0:23.6	Maybe it's a financial ruin that you're not going to be able to come back from.
0:27.9	Maybe it's a lost job.
0:28.9	You can't get back.
0:29.6	A lost marriage.
0:30.5	A lost relationship.
0:32.6	In my own experience, when I come to those moments,
0:34.9	when I realize I'm helpless and there's nothing that I can do, well, it's almost never the case that I come to those moments, when I realize I'm helpless and there's nothing that I can do,
0:39.1	well, it's almost never the case that I come to those moments, not having done something to try to avoid the situation.
0:46.1	And yet, despite my best efforts, I still ended up in precisely the place I'd hoped to avoid, the place where I say,
0:54.0	there's nothing I can do.
0:56.2	I am helpless.
0:58.4	In today's passage, King Hezekiah finds himself in one of those places.
1:03.6	The Mesopotamian Empire of Neo-Assyria is expanding its footprint, and now it's
1:09.0	aiming to take one of the crown jewels of the Middle East,
1:12.3	Egypt. It was the breadbasket of the Middle East. Now, the problem is that the Arabian desert
1:17.5	and the Red Sea stood between Assyria and its ultimate goal of taking Egypt. This meant that
1:24.2	the only way they could take Egypt was by traveling through a narrow land bridge
1:29.0	that sat between the Arabian desert and the Mediterranean Sea.
1:32.7	And if you don't know your geography, that's Israel.
1:35.8	If Syria wanted to take Egypt, there was no way to do it without taking Jerusalem first.
