Summary
Since childhood, he had fallen asleep to the sound of a man and a woman talking just outside his bedroom. He could never make out the words. Only the steady murmur of a conversation that shouldn’t have been there.
The voices followed him from his parents’ house to every place he lived afterward. He learned to ignore them. To treat them like background noise. Until other people started noticing things too. A figure in the corner. An alarm chiming with no door open. A neighbor describing two strangers no one else could see.
After a blessing, the voices stopped. But when something has been with someone for that long… silence can feel just as unsettling.
