Summary

Some hauntings don’t scream — they whisper. They begin with a reflection that doesn’t belong, a heartbeat that quickens before the mind can name the fear.

Jill from Illinois experiences a haunting unlike any other. It starts on a quiet night at her computer, when a friend’s frantic message flashes across her screen: “There’s something behind you.” She turns toward the kitchen—and in the mirrored surface of the dishwasher, she sees him.

A small boy, maybe six or seven, with tear-streaked cheeks, a faded striped shirt, and a red scratch above one brow. He looks exhausted, heartbroken… and pleading. When she steps forward, he vanishes—fading into the reflection as if it’s the only place he exists.

Weeks pass. Then months. But the boy isn’t gone. He returns—first in the glass, then in the room itself. Each time he appears, he seems a little braver, stepping closer to the line between life and death.

Jill begins to realize this isn’t just a spirit—this is a soul trying desperately to reach her. Trapped, lonely, and seeking peace, he crosses the boundary between reflection and reality.

Now, every night, Jill wonders if the next time she looks toward the dishwasher, she’ll see him not in the glass… but standing right in front of her.

1:33.4	Well, again, getting ready for Halloween locally here in Wisconsin, it has gotten cold, Tony.
1:41.1	And the older I get, the more I kind of feel like you, where it's like, I just don't know how much longer I can put up with these swings. It's like 40s and 50s here, which is really not bad for Wisconsin. But I hate it. And it's cold and rainy. And it's like, I just feel like an old man.
1:58.8	The darkness, too. I don't. I mean, you can't really escape that most places. But it does get darker. They're far earlier in the north than it does in the south. Yes. And that is something I really, I didn't realize until I'd come back and visit it several years ago where I was like, oh, God, yeah, like 4.30 in the afternoon,
2:18.3	not quite yet, but, you know, a little bit more into the season. It's dark. Very close. Yeah. Yeah. And we'll be, you know, the clocks will be changing and that'll change a little bit, but still it's like, dang it, uh, seven o'clock the morning. It's still a little dark here. It's like, uh. Yeah, we haven't even changed the clocks yet, have we?
