The scouting combine.

Very different schedule this year.

I don't like change.

They've been threatening to move the scouting combine out of Indianapolis as the production

morphs more and more into a TV show, one of the major off-season tent poles for the NFL.

This year, the workouts moved to prime time to the chagrin of the restaurants and bars in Indianapolis,

because Thursday, Friday, Saturday night, three of the busiest nights of the year

for those establishments will be crickets, at least until the workouts are over.

They may want to adjust their hours.

They may want to open at 11 p.m. and stay open until 4 a.m.

This money grabbed by the NFL, infringing on the habits of the coaches, the scouts,

the general managers, and everyone else who will be in Indianapolis.

The whole thing started as a way to get all the prospects together for medical examinations.

And then at some point along the line, they decided to just go ahead and start doing these workouts.

And over time, it gradually morphed into a bigger and bigger deal because of TV,

not because the teams thought that there was any great value
