Summary

When it comes to anger in motherhood, it's easy to be caught in a cycle of guilt and despair. However, the good news is that there is hope in Christ and power to fight sin in practical ways! Just like a person on a diet doesn't keep tempting foods within reach, with God's help, we can find ways to limit the temptation to sin in our anger while we process through the issues of the heart. In this show, Emily and Laura discuss common triggers for outbursts in motherhood, and share helpful hints for prevention. Because of the gospel, even a worn-out frustrated mom is under grace, with the power of the Spirit to pursue holiness from a new heart.

Motherhood is hard. One second, we think we're doing a good enough job and the next we feel

0:09.8

like the worst mom on the planet, which is why we need the refreshing truth of the gospel

0:14.9

to be repeated over and over, giving us hope in the everyday moments. So, mama, whether

0:20.9

you're sipping cold coffee or doing a sink full of dishes, we hope you'll find true,

0:25.9

encouragement and laughter here. This is the Risen Motherhood Podcast. Thanks for joining us.

Well, welcome back to another episode of Risen Motherhood. I am Emily Jensen here with my

0:41.4

sister-in-law, Laura Whiffler. Hello. And we are kind of picking back up in the middle of a

0:48.1

serious conversation we were having in the last episode. So, if you didn't catch that, definitely

0:54.5

go back and listen for kind of a little bit of the background to today's conversation.

1:00.1

Primarily, we were just talking about kind of like when mom gets angry or frustrated with her

1:05.6

kids and how kind of sin impacts that and causes that and then how the gospel gives us hope. So,

1:14.5

kind of when we left off last week, we were just getting ready to kind of start talking through

1:19.3

our identity in Christ and how in Christ we are seen as fully righteous before God. And that

1:27.9

frees us from having to label ourselves as the yelling mom or the angry mom or whatever kind of

1:36.8

condemnation we put on ourselves. That that isn't who we are in Christ and we are free to repent

1:44.8

and to just seek Christ and just live in that freedom and walk forward and fight sin. And so,

1:51.1

today's episode is going to be kind of talking about, well, what does that look like? Like, how do we

1:58.0

fight, you know, practically kind of fight that sin and Lauren are happy we're talking through this

2:04.2

because we need to know what these tools are. And I feel like you just dove into the deep end like

2:10.8

immediately. I mean, it's good. It's such it's so good. But I was like, okay, got to catch up

2:15.6

with them. So I do, I do have to just totally agree though with what you said about our labels and

2:20.4

our identity. And you know, it's almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy. It seems like when we begin to
