| 0:00.0 | Hey, Prime members, you can listen to Cult Leader Early and add free on Amazon Music. Download the app today. |
| 0:30.0 | Hello and welcome back to Cult Leader. I'm your Cult Leader, Spencer Henry, and I'm back with another terrible, horrible, knock-ed, really bad, very scary story from the world of retail. |
| 0:53.0 | As you can probably gather from today's episode title, as per usual, I got some updates for you guys. One, we got our first one-star review, and I left it. They called Cult Leader a skeleton of a podcast. |
| 1:07.0 | You know what? Honestly, probably. I don't know what to tell you. I don't know what you thought you were getting yourself into, but this Cult, I just tell a scary story every week, and I don't have all the facts, but I got some of them. That's my tagline. I should put that on the shows description. Not all the facts, but some of them. |
| 1:30.0 | No, I mean, I feel like I do my fair amount of research, but in order to keep the timing the way that I like it, I can't go into the miscellaneous depths of every single statistic. |
| 1:45.0 | So to you, ones that are review-leaver who said you're never going to listen to, if you happen to happen upon this, you can kiss my ass. In other news, the pins are unfortunately delayed. Here's why. The molds for them are sourced from a factory in China, and the factories have been closed for a while. |
| 2:05.0 | I ordered them in the beginning of January, but in the end of January, they closed for the Chinese New Year, and they haven't been able to reopen yet because of that fucking terrifying coronavirus, which I'm so scared of. I was like, yeah, no, please take your time. |
| 2:19.0 | So the factories are slated to open on February 10th, meaning that I should receive them the following week should everything go according to plan, but I hope everyone is staying safe out there. Scary. I'm so scared of being sick in general. I'm scared of the common cold. So coronavirus is just throwing me over the edge. |
| 2:41.0 | Also, I have a good news. I hired somebody to help me with cold leader, and they're going to be working with me part-time to help sort through emails, go and ship all of the pins and stuff, organize my notes, and it's just like, I'm so relieved because I'll finally have a second to breathe and focus on getting these out on time. |
| 3:03.0 | And this is like my favorite part of the week is sitting down and recording these for you guys, so trust me, I want them out every Monday just as bad as you guys do. So we're working on it. |
| 3:13.0 | I was going through emails myself the other day when I happened upon an email from a cult-baved named Kate, which we'll get to in a minute because it brings us into today's episode. |
| 3:23.0 | Before that, I got an email right before I started recording this episode right now, and it's so crazy, and I should save it for a little later, but I just want to share it with you guys now because I feel like you're going to be just as like a gasp as I was when I read it. |
| 3:41.0 | And it relates to episode 14, so think back Michael Babes, I need like dreamy music here, like, doodoo doodoo doodoo doodoo doodoo. |
| 3:50.0 | No, that's toilet. I don't know. But episode 14 was about Katherine Knight, and she was fucking wild, so if you have a listen to it, go back and listen to it, but they wrote, hi there, I would like to stay anonymous with this story just because it involves my mom, and I'm trying to keep a few identities in this story unknown. |
| 4:07.0 | So, I am from Australia a few hours out of Sydney, and I've recently started listening to your podcast, and I found myself at episode 14, and it reminded me of something crazy that happened to my mom a few years ago. |
| 4:18.0 | Long story short, a friend of hers ended up going to jail for drug charges. One day my mom caught the train to prison, and she's gone into for a visit to see her friend, which she did almost every weekend. |
| 4:30.0 | While she's visiting a woman walks by and stops at the table, obviously a friend of my mom's friend, and the woman holds on to my mom's shoulders as she greets her and starts rubbing her shoulders. Nothing too creepy, just a friendly, hey, how's it going sort of touch, as my mom says. |
| 4:45.0 | She starts saying things to my mom like I've heard so much about you. It's amazing that there are such good friends like you, etc. |
| 4:53.0 | And my mom's friend introduces her as Kathy and says, oh Kathy, this is the friend I was telling you about, the one that has all of your books. |
| 5:01.0 | Kathy then turns to my mom and says, don't believe everything you read. She then gives her shoulders a final squeeze before she leaves. |
| 5:09.0 | My mom not knowing exactly who she was talking to at this point leaves this conversation in the back of her mind and continues talking to her friend, while her friend is sort of just staring at her waiting for her to catch on. |
| 5:20.0 | She asks her, you do know who that was, right? Bit of a backstory here, my mom is a massive true crime buff. She has shelves of books based on or about true crime biographies and autobiographies galore, so she would easily know Australia's well known serial killers. |
