Did you ever see the movie or TV show Friday Night Lights? Did you grow up in a town where on Friday nights or Saturday nights,

everybody went to the football game and cheered the team on, and the athletes in the school were celebrities.

I mean, everybody wanted to encourage the team. Everybody used that as a big pass time. Well, across the nation,

teams and fans do spend Friday nights under the bright lights, celebrating the touchdown,

celebrating these athletes out there doing battle like gladiators of old. But every now and

in, people remind us that there's a lot more to it than touchdowns.

There's a lot more to it than combat.

They remind us what winning really looks like because sometimes the biggest wins don't show up on the scoreboard.

They may happen on the field.

They may happen between the players, but they are reflected in character.

They're reflected in kindness even during combat.

The real story today is what happens when people decide that there's

something bigger than the game. The real story happens when people decide that lifting others up

matters more than showing off their own success. Let's take a look at some headlines. In fact, let's take a look at some

video. Viral video shows Arkansas third graders special football moment. He was about

halfway down the field when I noticed all the kids was running with him. Now, if that doesn't

warm your heart, you must be lizard people.

Here's another. Green Canyon High School, louded for sportsmanship by opponent. And here's another,

Roswell High School star quarterback gifts his homecoming crown to the team's top fan. You know, that homecoming at Roswell High looked like

any other Friday night, the band, the crowd, the lights. But when the star quarterback, Trey Smith,

was crowned Homecoming King, he just did something nobody expected. He didn't tell anybody

ahead of time. He didn't say anything.
