Kaiser Permanente Health Workers have begun a strike starting in the east and moving west

in the next hour.

Unionized workers at the big healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente are striking for three days.

The biggest healthcare industry strike in U.S. history, it's believed, talks reportedly

stalled yesterday amid long-running tensions over staffing and pay, Marketplace's Novosafo

reports.

The coalition of unions representing tens of thousands of nurses, technicians, administrative

staff and others say Kaiser is not keeping up with the cost of living.

They're demanding pay increases at about twice the rate of what the nonprofit health system

is currently offering.

The unions are also raising alarms over staffing levels.

I've dealt with coming in weeks on end where before we even start the day, we're already

short-staffed.
