When did you have to deal with a ridiculous, compulsive liar?

Oh boy, in middle school I had a friend who claimed he had a special-made Nintendo 64

that supported eight players.

We asked if we could all come over and play, and he made up excuses.

The tenants at the place where I work lie about things they do all the time and stick by their story, even

if you have all the evidence in the world to the contrary.

Like these really trashy people we had.

Their apartment looked like an episode of hoarders.

They were throwing trash out their windows, like it took me several trips with a large trash

can to get all of it.

Of course, they said it's not them, it must be the neighbors.

Well, A, their

neighbors have been out of town for weeks. B, the trash was in a big pile under their windows, not

their neighbors. And C, we found multiple pieces of mail with their names and addresses on them.

Their old driver's license and their old library cards in the pile of trash as well. They still

denied doing it. I've probably

got dozens of lying tenant stories. One set lied about everything, but most couldn't be proven wrong.

One spring we had three straight days of steady rain flooding many buildings in low-lying areas,

as well as basements everywhere. This tenant called me to tell me several TVs and other electronic

devices she had stored in the basement were ruined due to water that was a foot deep down there.

By the time I got there, the water had receded and the floor was only damp. She swore the water

was almost to her knees and wanted my insurance to cover her losses. I had her bend down with me
