Hello, and welcome to the Vyland New York State, no trip jet podcast, we'd like to get

right into it.

And what we're going to get into today is, what happens when a city that is plagued by

crime votes for more crime?

You may know, probably know, it was another weekend of violence and disorder in Chicago.

Let me read you a couple of headlines from WLS, one of the news stations there, quote,

at least 32 shot eight fatally in weekend violence across city.

Okay, that was one headline from WLS and another headline, same place, 15 arrested in

connection with loop chaos after two teens shot.

Well, that story went on to report that there had been a quote, large disturbance.

Was it large disturbance?

Was it a small riot?

I kind of like small riot.

It seemed to be more descriptive that took place in the city's downtown area.

There were videos of the incident showing crowds of young people jumping up and down on cars

and buses.

And later, as happens in Chicago, at least one person pulled out a gun.

So those are a couple of headlines from the weekend.

It was in other words, just another weekend in Chicago.

Except now, I mean, this is a podcast mostly about politics, except now the city has a new mayor

elect who will be sworn in on May 15th after an election that turned on the issue of crime.
