Good morning. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Monday, April 27th. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the arraignment. The suspect accused of attacking the White House correspondence dinner this weekend will be in court today, and there are new details coming out about his possible targets and motivation.

He sent a letter to family members right before he sprinted through that security checkpoint

and opened fire, and in it, officials say that the part-time teacher and video game developer

from California called himself a friendly federal assassin and made clear that he was targeting

Trump administration officials. He wrote that he didn't want to hurt law enforcement, but quote, would still go through

most everyone here to get to the targets.

And also wrote, I don't expect forgiveness.

A law enforcement source tells CNN, Secret Service fired at 31 year old-old Cole Thomas Allen but did not hit him.

President Trump says the Secret Service agent who was shot in the vest is okay now.

Allen was eventually tackled. Agents removed his clothes to search him for weapons.

And last night, CNN obtained an image of the shotgun that he was carrying.

Police say he also had a pistol and multiple knives.

The White House says Alan's sister told police then that he had changed after joining a left-wing

activist group.

And now the president wants to reschedule this dinner, ASAP.

And we should do it within 30 days, and they'll have even more security and they'll have bigger

perimeter security.

It'll be fine, but tell them to do it again.

We can't let something, it's not that I want to go.
