How to Feel Alive Again, Catherine Price, to talk even more about fun, what it is, what it has the potential to be in our lives, and how to have it.

0:28.0

When we wrapped part one of this conversation, I was saying how I feel it is very difficult to find much fun in

0:34.7

writing anymore because it is now so tied to productivity for me and self-consciousness.

0:41.2

So my first question back for you, Catherine,

0:43.7

is it possible to have fun while doing something

0:47.4

that is based upon your making a living? Do people who love to paint but then suddenly get into the art world

0:56.4

and have a million people looking at their paintings and selling the paintings and now it's

1:01.4

capitalism and do people keep that purity of fun

And it's been very interesting to see, just I'm at the beginning of this process, but to see my own reaction.

1:53.5

So I'm finding it to be necessary for me to constantly remind myself,

1:58.7

as I'm putting it, to follow my fun where it's like, no, like my instinct is going to be to write a

2:03.6

servicey piece about something that has some science and it blah blah blah but like is that

2:06.8

really what I want to write about or do I want to do something with the essay I

2:09.4

wrote about the time that I dragged my husband to water aerobics in

2:12.1

Lafayette with me or the time that he's a true story

2:14.5

accidentally got a perm when we were traveling in China like that's what delights me right but it's
