When my father was a little boy, he arrived to America by ship from a refugee camp in Europe

after World War II.

One of the first things that he experienced when he stepped foot on American soil in Boston

Harbor, when he was standing there with his family, they're all holding all their possessions

in the world.

Whatever they were carrying, that was all they owned in the world.

And they're standing there and a stranger, an American man walks by, spots my father,

comes over and buys him a good humor ice cream bar.

Chocolate.

My dad to this day can tell you what it tastes like, tasted like heaven.

Now, today, when children, like my dad, refugee children, like what my father was me first

came here.

Now, today, when refugee children come to America, this is what greets them.

There are around 60,000 asylum seekers in New York City.

Many of them are from Venezuela, a country that has been decimated by a Russian-backed

authoritarian regime that has created a famine in the country, creating a refugee crisis

that rivals Syria, another Russian-backed mass murdering, torturing regime.

And we've had idiots on the far left that have tried to muddle the truth on what's really

going on in Venezuela, how the government's at fault there, the brutal policies there,

and as well as in Syria.

And that has, I believe, depleted any sort of public interest in helping those countries

and muddling the truth, as I mentioned.
