| 0:00.0 | This is the Pink Bike podcast. We're back at our homes. We're not in Whistler anymore. We left |
| 0:04.8 | crankworks reluctantly, but maybe happily. I'm not sure. It was a long week of crankworksing, |
| 0:09.4 | but now we're back to our regularly scheduled podcast programming. I'm Mike Asmer. We get Dario |
| 0:15.3 | De Giulio and Stefan Pelletier here. Hello. Hi. Hi, everybody. We're here. Lots to talk about. We're kind of back in the swing of things. You know, crankworks happens. And it's kind of almost a sign of the end of the midseason wall when racing happens. So now we got Lillje is coming up. Then we got world champs coming up. We saw the last Enduro World Cup race of the season happened, which is still Enduro World Championships, I guess. Right. This is the last Enduro World Cup race the season, which seems kind of crazy that it's wrapping up. I know their season feels very truncated compared to the downhill. Yeah, there are seven, seven races. And also they had that big midseason gap too so lots |
| 0:54.3 | people flew back to north america well a few people flew back to north america but then they |
| 0:57.9 | have to go all the way back to europe for i guess two more races i guess that's the life of a |
| 1:03.1 | it's a tricky one but they also started earlier to be fair so yeah that makes some sense |
| 1:09.7 | but yeah but yeah so now racing all that we'll get into that but we should probably start what should we start So yeah. It makes some sense. Yeah. But yeah. |
| 1:11.2 | So now racing all that, we'll get into that, but we should probably start, what should we start with? Maybe start with some show and tell. Sure. Because in the meantime, since crankworks happen, some packages arrived, we get some new products. Like Dario, you and I both have the same new pedals came in the mail. Yeah, the new XTRs. |
| 1:34.1 | We, they like accidentally released them with the wireless drive train and then retracted. |
| 1:35.1 | And now they're back. |
| 1:37.9 | And then Jesse spotted them on a bike. |
| 1:47.4 | But yeah, it's basically a saint style platform, but with like more of an XTR weight and um you know slightly smaller form factor so yeah it's almost like a three-quarters saint type of thing it's the same kind of |
| 1:51.3 | rectangular platform but yeah mine on this on my scale mine weighed 50 grams more than normal |
| 1:56.6 | xTR pedal like total okay for set so they're heavier than regular xDR but they're definitely not as heavy as saint petals so was that with the pins uh no without the pins i don't believe in pins and clipless pedals that work this way so we'll talk about that so if you haven't seen them this looks a lot like the current saint pedal is just a little bit smaller and the the clip in mechanism doesn't rotate so it's fixed and then there's room for four |
| 2:18.0 | pins two in the front two in the back on each side and you can adjust the height of those which |
| 2:21.3 | I'm not opposed to it but also when I clip into these and look at the front of my shoe it doesn't |
| 2:27.1 | come anywhere near contacting the front pins yeah and I'm used to the crank rows which actually |
| 2:33.4 | do use their pins for something and like in in comparison to those, these don't. But I did notice that like if you, if you like fake a compression and like stamp into the pedal, it is harder to clip out. That makes sense. So like when you're smearing as hard as you can, like it does bite, but not as consistently as something else. And that's more like your foot just like deforming over the pedal. Yeah. And the rear ones you can make tall enough to depending on your shoe to bite in the shoe. But I just, I said it before, but I just don't really like the, it's almost like a weird way to retain your foot is by using just, it seems archaic. Pins, I don't know. But the good news about these is that the platform itself is a little bit higher. So you're, it's pretty solid underfoot. There's not, no slop. You don't get that, you know, extra float sensation that you can get with some pedal. So I think, I think people will like these. their expense, 260 bucks. But it gets a lot of money. It's $100 more than the one-up pedals that are lighter and similar function. Do the one-ups have the same kind of support feel? Yeah, I'd say it pretty close. Do you guys feel faster in them? I haven't rid with them yet. Probably not. I mean, I'll probably feel sketchier because I'm not used to the SPD. Is it right now? Is it worth it worth? They seem nice. I think, I mean, they're good additions to the lineup. I need to, you know, obviously more miles and stuff to see, but they feel good, whether I think the extra support versus the regular XTR trail pedals is kind of cool so people |
| 3:58.9 | that want like downhill racers and indoor racers are just anyone that wants that kind of more |
| 4:02.4 | yeah just more support underfoot I did feel faster and I used them because I had that |
| 4:06.9 | norco revolver so I put them on an XT bike which no you felt zippy but then I felt zippy but then |
