Summary

In times of tragedy like the current COVID-19 crisis, we’re quick to put God on trial, crying out, “Why did You allow this?” In fact, in Luke 13, people were asking Jesus the same question—but He challenged them to ask a different one. Drawing straight from this dialogue, Dr. Michael Youssef reveals Jesus’ words to all of us in times of disaster and urges us to ask a more important question: “Where am I spiritually?”

0:33.7	In my lifetime, our world has experienced a lot of horrifying events, but perhaps not anyone that is a crisis that is as bad as this one in terms of being global.
0:48.9	While some are eager to fix blame, others looking for scapegoats, and yet others who are anxious for the quick fix.
1:02.7	And then there are even others who are living in fear and terror. News alert, news alert. Human nature had never changed,
1:18.6	had never changed, because you're going to find each of these reactions that I just enumerated,
1:25.8	each of these reactions, you see them throughout history.
1:30.7	In the pages of the scripture alone, whenever disaster struck, how they were anxious to
1:37.7	fix a blame, every time they faced a challenge, they bitterly complained every time they
1:44.0	saw a trouble or a problem,
1:46.2	instead of crying out to God, because after all, they saw with their own eyes time and again
1:53.3	how God has intervened on their behalf. Time and again, they saw how God supernaturally and miraculously opened a highway in the middle
2:04.6	of the sea, and yet their attitude persisted throughout biblical history, you see it.
2:11.3	Whenever a disaster struck, we see the same reaction on the part of many people.
2:17.9	The age, all questions always pop up.
2:22.2	Where is God in all of this?
2:24.7	How can a loving, merciful God allow the loss of life?
2:28.7	Why didn't He, the old knowing God stop this pandemic from happening? How good is God in times like this?
2:40.0	And if God is not all powerful, why should we worship him? And to make things worse, there are some.
