privilege to be on this campus and to participate in any way in the mission of this university

and your part in it as you accept the opportunity to learn and prepare to go forth and serve.

The thoughts I would like to share with you today I believe would fit under the title,

What will you make room for in your wagon?

It might be considered a self-talk message for my benefit as well as yours.

A number of years ago, when I was a beginning teacher in elementary school, I had

the superintendent's daughter in my fourth grade class.

She had some learning difficulties.

I was anxious for her to learn as quickly as possible.

After many attempts with only a blank stare

in response to my effort to teach her long division,

at one moment she jumped up and excitedly announced,

finally, you said it right.

I've got it, I've got it, she said.

I pray that the Spirit of the Lord will bless us

so that the things I've prepared for you will be of help to you.
