And for the rest of the hour, we are going to take a look at what California is doing to avoid power outages this summer and fall.

Of course, hot, dry weather are going to be increasing the risk for wildfires,

but also driving up demand for electricity to power air conditioning. Governor Gavin Newsom knows that

his fate in the upcoming recall election could be determined in part by whether or not

Californians experience rolling blackouts or widespread public safety power shutoffs to prevent

wildfires. So what's the state doing to make sure demand for electricity doesn't exceed supply?

Joining us is Elliot Mainzer. He is president and CEO of the California Independent System

Operator. They run the electricity grid in California.
