Summary

Keir Starmer is enjoying his best media coverage since the election – but the UK commentariat always hails the appearance of ‘strong leadership’ during the early phase of an international crisis. Tough choices can still be avoided, but what happens when the consequences are played out and these vaguely defined choices must be made? The commentariat in the UK can turn speedily… and so can voters. Kirstama, their leading European leaders on Sunday.

1:48.4

And incidentally, one of the glimmers of light in the darkness is this capacity of a British

1:56.7

Prime Minister to work closely with other European leaders rather than berate them.

2:02.9

But that's a relatively minor development compared with the other things that are going on.

2:08.9

I'm always staggered on one level at a country like Britain that can't run a train service,

2:16.0

can't build a high-speed railway system as they can

2:19.5

in other equivalent countries, can't properly provide health provision. I still look back. I mean,

2:26.8

memories go so quickly. It's five years, isn't it, since the pandemic and lockdown began in
