From KQBD in San Francisco, I'm Nina Kim. Coming up on forum, California leaders are already talking about doing battle with a second Trump administration.

Governor Newsom today announced a special legislative session to shore up the state's defenses,

saying the freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack and we won't sit idle.

Attorney General Rob Banta says his office has been drafting court challenges to a national abortion ban,

among other potential policies. But as LA Times columnist Anita Charbria notes,

state leaders will only fight as hard and as long as their constituents want them to.
