So now we're arriving at Daya's house. We're right at the side of a motorway here.

You can hear the traffic.

And there's a cage full of beautiful coloured canaries. One, two, three, there's probably about two dozen canaries

Five countries that back in 2001 were tipped to be the future

powerhouses of the developing world. It has a population of 200

million people and massive natural resources and in the first decade of

the century it experienced an economic boom which pulled

tens of millions of its citizens out of poverty. People like Day of the era.

Now, I'm gonna guys,

Daya is a wonderfully energetic 40-something woman

whose smile was only just brighter than the magenta top she was wearing

as she welcomed us to her home in a poor part of Rio de Janeiro.

She says we do kind of a lot of works here and the walls are bare concrete,

there's tile stairs coming up and coming up to the surface floor.
