The Lakers famously waited over the course of the summer.

Did not make their big Russell Westbrook trade.

But prior to the Indiana game, Dave McMinneman reported that the basic thought is that

the Lakers are looking to trade Russ in one first round pick for one trade package, and then

Patrick Beverly and Kendrick Nunn for another. Now, Russ makes

$47 million, and Beverly and Nun make a combined 19. And so you can get a lot of player back

for that. So the downsides of not making the trade in terms of the immediate team is you're kind of

this team that's stuck in between two different places and we have this sort of misshapen roster of which we're trying to make the best of it.
