Hey good morning. It's Patricia Murphy. It's Monday. This is Seattle now.

Man, we love our restaurants around here, but the pandemic and Seattle's blistering growth

means these third places are constantly shifting.

It's just one of the things local food author Geraldine DeRoyter talks about in her latest book.

We'll talk with her in a minute, about the importance of these spaces and what we lose when they disappear.

But first, let's get you caught up.

You could be paying more or less to park in Seattle today.

S. Dot's seasonal street parking adjustments are in effect, which means higher rates on

busy blocks and lower rates in quieter spots. Look for the

steepest rates around climate pledge arena during big events. Parking on the street will run you up to

$10 an hour. This Friday marks 10 years since the landslide in Osso, Washington claimed 43 lives.

It's the deadliest landslide in U.S. history. A remembrance event

takes place Friday in the town, including a new memorial dedicated to victims and survivors.

And Thursday is a big day for us here at the KUOW studios. We're trying to raise a million

dollars in one day.
