Good afternoon, Buck Nudders. Welcome to Buck Nuts. What we learned live following Ohio State's too close for comfort 21 to 7 win at Northwestern. Wow. I am Dave Biddle. Thank you for joining on today's show. I'll be joined soon by Jonah Booker. Then we'll be joined live from Ryan Field in Evanston by Patrick.

And Steve Hellwagon following post game interviews. So let's get into what we learned from this game. Goodness gracious. I mean, listen, I get it like a wins a win, you know, surviving advance, but when you're favored by 38 points, and I know that, you know, we'll get into the weather and all that.

I'll use what Ryan Day himself said about the weather.

Weather is the same for both teams as Ryan Day said himself. You just have to be, you know, deal with it better than your opponent and disappointing. Now, we can get us some good things that Ohio State did as well, but overall pretty disappointing.

But with favor by 38 points, and you win this game by 14, and you kind of had to pull away late to win by 14. So I'm just going to retweet the show here real quick. We're going to some more stuff that we learned about this team. So here's the thing that I will say this.

Is it going to hurt them in the end? No, if Ohio State goes undefeated, you think 13 and no, Ohio State. I mean, it won't matter. Just beat Michigan, win the big 10. Obviously, it won't matter. I guess you could say the only way it would matter is if Ohio State's sitting there at 11 and 1 with a loss to Michigan.

I don't think they'd get it anyway in that scenario. So, you know, so it probably won't matter. I mean, this we all know the 2014 Ohio State lost a Virginia Tech and still won the national championship, but disappointing today.

Let's get into some things that we learned from this game.

Okay, let's start with something positive. Give them credit for grinding it out. They've done that. But I'm sick of saying that. I'm sick of saying, oh, this was a character booster, Notre Dame. You know, we said that Penn State and now this, it's just like, listen, it's just that was an embarrassing performance for most of the game.

I hate to use that word, but that's what it was. I wrote it down a couple different times on my game notes. Like, it was embarrassing. You're supposed to be the number two team in the country. And that's what you come out and do.

Embarrassing.

Listen, I've talked up the old line. They were disappointing today. The old line was a disappointment. We learned that old line was a disappointment. They have to play better.

We learned that this year's team. Now, maybe they can prove it otherwise, but this year's team is not as good as that 2019 team.

There's been a lot of comparisons with Ryan Day's first team. And now this team, you know, is this overall maybe even a better team than 2019? It's not. It's not in that 2019 team didn't even make it to the national championship game. It should have.

I mean, that Clemson game was, you know, an abomination as far as, you know, replay officiating. Absolutely atrocious. But still point is, I mean, this is not as good of a team as 2019. It just isn't.

I just, I don't know.

2019 is the better team. And again, Ryan Day himself said, you can talk about the weather, all you want. He said all week, the weather's the same for both teams. So you can't have it both ways.

You know, the weather was the same for both teams. And what's the other thing they talked about all offseason toughness, being tough, being tougher than the other team, being able to run the ball when the other team knows they're going to run it.
