today, but in his place, we've got a very special guest. Jason Timp from Hoops Tonight is joining

us for the podcast today. Jason, it's great to see you again. It's great to talk. We were having banter before the pod started. We were talking for like 10 or 15 minutes. That could have been a part of the pod itself. But here we are. How are you doing this morning? I'm doing good, man. You were talking before we started recording about how JJ sounded dejected. I was pretty dejected too. And I would imagine you were. So like, I'm really curious

to see if through the process of just kind of working through this together for the next half

hour, if we end up like more optimistic or even more dejected. I'm just, we'll see. It feels like

this is where the path by for Kate. We'll see where we go. The scales of justice of optimism

versus pessimism are definitely tilting in one direction

the last couple of days. Honestly, I would say the last week and a half of Lakers basketball

culminating with the Spurs game in an NBA Cup game where they could have gotten to Las Vegas

and instead they got eliminated. The Lakers had been playing

some decent basketball. The win in Toronto was great, game winning shot, and then the game in

Philly was another like LeBron performance. And I'd love to talk about LeBron and him sort of

rounding in the form a little bit later. But it was nice to go two and one on that road trip.
