Summary

Paul & Amy sink their teeth into 2014’s vampiric mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows! They learn why so many of the film’s creatures look like Lord Of The Rings characters, come around to Jemaine Clement’s acting style, and ask if this is still director Taika Waititi’s best film. Plus: The origins of that sandwich joke. Next week, Paul & Amy are watching Young Frankenstein! You can join the conversation for this series on Paul’s Discord at https://discord.gg/ZwtygZGTa6. 1:09.4

Part of it was like this.

1:11.4

This is a very interesting film because I haven't watched this in a handful of years and I

1:15.9

have forgotten how much I loved it and I also was surprised in doing the research.

1:21.4

This is a movie that only two people saw the script and those two people were the directors,

1:28.4

Jameen Clement and Tyco Ahtiti. That's it and everybody else were allowed to find their

1:34.4

character with guidance from the two of them.

1:36.4

I'm excited to go to back to this too because I feel like this is really a pivot point for me in the

1:42.4

careers of Jameen Clement and Tyco Ahtiti. This is where I really mostly became aware of Tyco.

1:48.4

I know about his film Boy, I hadn't paid that much attention to his career. Here is where I was

1:52.4

really like, okay, who is that? And now it's like you cannot avoid knowing who that is.

1:57.4

And I came into this movie with a bunch of preconceptions about Jameen Clement which I'm ready to speak

2:01.4

with you openly about and purge.
