Summary
As a child, he used to see what he called the “Scoobies”—dark figures that gathered in the bathroom and followed him into his nightmares. Eventually, it stopped, and for years it felt like whatever had been there was gone.
Then one night, long after childhood, both cats froze at the bottom of the stairs, locked onto something above them. They wouldn’t move. They wouldn’t respond. And later that night, he had an experience that didn’t feel like a dream at all.
What appeared wasn’t violent. It didn’t even seem eager to be seen. But the message was clear—it had been there before, and it was still there now.
