Today's episode is a fireside chat from NFT NYC! Jodee and I had an amazing conversation full of value and even a little debate! We discuss all things NFTs including, the moment I fell in love with them, if I believe the community cares more about money or art, decentralization, what industries I believe are going to be disrupted by NFTs in the next year and much more.

0:00.0 | This is the Gary V. Audio Experience. New York, what's good? |
0:21.0 | So I said I would start with, what was the moment when you fell in love with NFTs? |
0:28.0 | It was a beautiful evening. I always talk about Aaron Battalion and Kevin Rose when I talk about origins for me because they were instrumental. |
0:43.0 | Aaron Battalion was the former CTO of living social group on competitor in the 2007-08 era great technologist. |
0:52.0 | He made me at South by Southwest. We used to do something called the jam session and about midnight every night we would get a group of 10, 15, 20 people together. |
1:04.0 | We would just talk about the space until 3, 4, 5 into the morning. |
1:10.0 | It was where I learned so much in 2006, 7, 8, 9 from the people that went on to build some of the most significant startups and platforms. |
1:19.0 | We would always talk Web 2 social and then in 15, they started talking about Bitcoin and I'm like what the fuck are they talking about? |
1:30.0 | I really struggled with the concept and was just listening and probably the longest two hours because I didn't say a word. |
1:38.0 | I was just absorbing, absorbing and it was the following year where Aaron told me about Ethereum. |
1:45.0 | This was what in 2010? No, no. This was maybe 15 or 16. I'm not sure. |
1:50.0 | But Ethereum immediately clicked for me as a platform and developers built on top of it. |
1:56.0 | I was also thinking a ton at the time about the Apple platform versus Android open closed. |
2:02.0 | Wait, is Apple like Microsoft now? I was just thinking about those kind of things. |
2:06.0 | So the Ethereum thing really hit. A year later I saw crypto kitties. |
2:12.0 | But I'm talking about a miss. I saw it. I went to kind of go deep into it. |
2:18.0 | Whatever happened. The meeting, something silly got diverted and never really got to go deep into it. |
2:25.0 | But was aware of it. And was like oh that's cool. Well people collected your things. |
2:29.0 | I was infatuated with Farmville. The fact that people were buying virtual sheep to have clout. |
2:38.0 | And when I see all the board ape stuff now, that used to be a fucking sheep. |
2:43.0 | And Zay Frank, if you remember, who was really one of the pioneers of video blogging, |
2:49.0 | even before I did Wine Library TV, he sold virtual little duckies under his video if you wanted to sport his show. |
