What was the biggest plot twist that happened in your life?

0:03.0

My mom and I haven't really had a relationship for the past five years, for a lot of reasons.

0:07.5

A couple of huge parts of that being my having left the religion that I was raised in,

0:11.5

and her having severe bipolar disorder that made her nearly impossible to deal with,

0:15.9

which she refused to maintain treatment for.

0:18.2

We have only spoken once in the last five years and it was awful. It was

0:21.6

about a year and a half ago. I drove down to California to visit her, 450 miles from me, and tried to

0:54.8

I had to have it reset and it was sent to an old email address that I haven't used in years.

0:59.2

When I logged in, I found an email from her, sent just shortly before she died,

1:03.3

apologizing and trying to reconnect and make amends.

1:06.1

We had been out of contact for so long it was the last email address she had for me.

1:10.1

But since I hadn't been using

1:11.2

it for years, I didn't get her message until months after her death. That is exceedingly tragic,

1:16.7

and I just feel like even if you don't see how to eye, you need to have some method of communication

1:21.3

and keep each other up to date on how to get to each other, at least if there is some kind of

1:26.1

emergency in your lives.
