Summary
He had stayed at his sister’s house plenty of times without ever thinking twice about it. The basement wasn’t exactly comfortable, but it was usable—and the first night there was completely normal.
The second night was different.
As soon as he tried to settle in, something felt off. Then the mattress dipped beside his legs, not subtly, but in a way that felt unmistakably real—like someone had just sat down next to him. When he moved, it reacted.
That’s when he knew it wasn’t in his head.
What he saw moments later, just before running upstairs, was enough to make him never spend another night in that house again. What made it worse… his sister didn’t seem surprised when he told her.
