Hi, I'm Coach Corey Wayne, and today we're going to be discussing with John Dufrain of

0:05.0

Kinetic Consulting.net, the basics of rifle selection. What kind of rifle should you buy?

0:13.5

Obviously, an AR-15 style rifle is typically what most people are going to go for, but John's going to go through and tell us,

0:22.3

what are the basics? What do you look for? What kind of rifle? What manufacturer? What bells and

0:26.5

whistles do you put on it? What are you going to need? What don't you need? Cool. So the basics

0:33.0

of rifle selection are pretty easy. I think a lot of people overcomplicate them a little bit.

0:39.5

Once you understand what you need based off of, once again, your situation in your

0:45.0

environment, right, that's going to dictate a lot of different things. So if you're into

0:50.7

more longer distances or want to want kind of an overall rifle that you can use for almost anything,

1:00.2

you want to sit around the longer distance or longer barreled rifles. So being a 14.5 inch rifle

1:08.2

or a 16 inch rifle. If you're looking at more shorter distances or working within more confined spaces and

1:14.7

vehicles and inside of structures and stuff like that, you'll find that's where most people

1:19.2

go down to the 11.5s and the 10.5 rifles.

1:24.5

So when you figure out like where you want to kind of live, where where you're planning

1:31.0

on doing your stuff or where you plan on shooting the most or like your environment that you

1:36.3

live in, if you live on once again the farmland kind of environment, longer distances and stuff,

1:41.9

you may want a longer rifle. You get more room to play.

1:45.1

And you can get a little bit more velocity out of them. You can actually stabilize bullets a little

1:49.2

better for longer distances. So it would be who you to have a longer gun. If you're in a more

1:56.2

confined spaces, like you live in an apartment or you live in smaller houses or you live in places or work in places that are more confined in some way, shorter guns usually end up being the game.

2:10.6

So, for example, when I was in the military, I was issued a 14.5 inch rifle upper, upper receiver and a 10.3 inch upper receiver and it was up to you when you wanted to use which one that you threw on the lower receiver of the rifle. So for example, this here is an 115 inch rifle or the barrel length is 11.5 inches.

2:37.0

And this one, if I wanted to change it to a 16 inch, 20 inch, whatever inch rifle, all I have to do is pull two pins,
