If you are going through a difficult time, you are not alone. Plenty of people suffer in this life. But for the Christian, there are things we can learn through adversity. In Acts 14:22 it says, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” Pastor Gary unpacks this verse and teaches four things that we can learn through tough times.

We are presently going through the Book of Acts, and so we're going to be looking today at

chapter 14, a passage in chapter 14.

Last week we talked about how the Book of Acts records three missionary tours that Paul makes throughout Asia Minor and even into Europe to advance the good news of Jesus and to help people understand how they can have a relationship with him and be forgiven and be saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

And everywhere that Paul traveled on his missionary journeys, he would customarily first go to a Jewish synagogue if there was one in that particular city.

But then he would go to the non-Jewish population.

Paul was sent primarily to the Gentiles to share the good news of Jesus with them.

And chapters 13 and 14 of the Book of Acts records Paul's first missionary tour,

his first missionary journey.

The year was roughly 46 to 48 AD.

It was a two-year tour that he took

throughout Asia Minor and into Europe. And along the way of his first missionary journey, we find

here in chapter 14 that he comes to a city called Leistra. Lister on a map is located in modern

Turkey. And he encounters a man there in Leicstra that the Bible

describes as being crippled from birth, that he was never able to walk. And so this man is going to

receive a miracle. And God is going to use Paul as a vessel of God's miraculous power to heal this man.

I want you to notice, as I read the story, I want you to pay attention to the miracle.

Don't overlook the miracle, but I also want you to notice the reaction of the crowd in response to this miracle.

They go from venerating Paul and Barnabas, treating them like gods because of this
