Welcome on into the Wolverine.com podcast, Clayton Safie, alongside Anthony Broom, here previewing Michigan football against Illinois in the penultimate game of the regular season. Great word. We will break that down. We're going to talk Michigan, Ohio State this weekend as well. They play Maryland, so we'll kind of look ahead a little bit later on. Talk about what we want to see from Michigan in this game. That'll give us a little bit more confidence for next week's. Should be top five showdown, top three. So should be exciting. Anthony, how's it going? Doing wonderful. It's been a bit of a, I mean, it's still been busy, but a bit of a slow week in that it seems like every time we get to this week right before the Ohio State game, it's one that obviously this isn't one that anyone is overlooking in the building, will overlook in the building.

But on the same token, from our perspective, it's like, gosh, the readers, readers the listeners the fans are anxious for next

week it's just kind of like the uh i would compare it to like the sensation of senioritis where it's

like you know that you're so close to to the finish line there and obviously like uh quality

opponent coming in this weekend but yeah that's that's

where i'm at right now we we as in like the two of us in our team over at the wolverine dot com

shout out of course to zach liby this week who joined us as our newest recruiting reporter

we don't have the luxury of you know, sitting idly by and just kind of waiting

things out to next week.

But there is, there is a part of it where it's like, all right, I think I'm ready for it, too.

But obviously, huge game coming up this weekend before we really get into it.

I also would send condolences to Brett Bilema and his family.

He lost his mother on Thursday morning. We'll see, uh, you know, it doesn't even matter how that affects the game just as a human thing, uh, by all accounts, a good dude and, uh, you know, thoughts to his program. Thoughts to also the University of Virginia community for what they've been going through this week. So long winded open from me. I guess I could just said, yeah, I'm doing great. Let's get into it. But we all know that's not how I operate. No, all good. Yeah, thoughts and prayers to both Virginia and Brett Bielman, his family, Illinois. Of course, I concur with all of that. But you're right. is kind of a trap game a little bit, I guess, for the fans in a way.

It doesn't matter.

It's irrelevant.

And it's a potential trap game for Michigan.

Now, looking at history, Michigan has done a very good job in this spot before Ohio State historically.

30, 11 and won the week before playing Ohio State since 1969.

They've only lost once in the penultimate regular season game under Jim Harbaugh,

and that was at Wisconsin in 2017.

That was a top five Wisconsin team.

So it does not qualify, in my opinion, as a trap game, of course,
