I'm Brian Lehrer. This is my daily politics podcast from WNYC Studios. It's Monday, July 26th.

Tomorrow, the Select House Committee investigating the January 6th Capitol Riot will hold its first hearing. We will carry it

0:22.2

live here on WNYC. It's scheduled to start at 9.30 tomorrow morning. The committee as of now has

0:28.7

only two Republicans, Liz Cheney and Adam Kisinger, after House Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy,

0:35.6

and Speaker Nancy Pelosi couldn't agree on which other Republicans

0:39.2

1:46.3

1:54.2

Republicans that he's appointed on it because the two that he chose originally were Jim Jordan and Congressman Banks,

2:03.4

who Nancy Pelosi decided not to accept.

2:07.8

So then he pulled all the other Republicans that he had appointed off.

2:12.0

So now there are still going to be two Republicans on the committee,

2:14.8

but they are appointed by Pelosi.

2:16.8

That's Adam Kinsiger
