Welcome to our daily Rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

So let's finish the 10th commandment which warns us against greed with the rich young man who came to see Jesus.

He's described as having many possessions, and he asked Jesus what he must do to enter heaven.

Jesus told him to keep the commandments.

The young man said to him, I've kept all these from my youth.

What more do I need to do?

Jesus said, if you wish to be perfect, go sell what you own and give the money to the

poor and you will have treasure in heaven and then come follow me. But when the young man heard these words,

he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth.

Jesus invited this young man to be one of the inner circle with God himself,

but he couldn't do it. His wealth held him enslaved and he

went away sad. After that Jesus turned to the Apostles and said it would be very difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

And then Jesus doubled down by adding,

it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle

than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

And throughout the gospel, Jesus presents the attachment to riches as the primary obstacle to receiving God.

In the parable of the rich man in Lazarus,

the rich man goes to hell because he didn't use his wealth rightly.

Judas steals from the money purse.

He complains about how much the honor of Jesus costs when Mary Magdalen anoints his feet, and then he betrays

the Savior of the world all for money. And Jesus says that we cannot worship God and money as though money is the primary
