A partnership is profitable, but it also advantages the NFL. Not only can the XFL be a proven ground for hidden football talent around the country, but it can now be a testing ground for new rule changes. Perhaps they could hone in an improvement to pass interference rules or kickoffs. Maybe they can figure out how to utilize Next Gen Stats-style tracking data to improve officiating.
